Back to school

“Ugh, god not him again!” Tom thought to himself as a text from a boy in one of his classes popped up on his phone. “He is kinda cute though, maybe i should give him a chance? that might shut him up at least…” It’s amazing how fast Tom adapted to becoming a teenage girl, after all, just a few months ago he was an almost 30 year old man when his neighbor’s daughter had used some kind of spell to swap their bodies. Hailey had wanted out of her overbearing parents house and saw Tom as the perfect way out. She had stolen his life, and to add insult to injury, had packed up and moved out of the neighborhood, taking his body and any chance he had of getting back in contact with himself away with her.

Suddenly, his priorities had changed from worrying about his job’s quarterly progress meeting to wondering how he’d keep up with Hailey’s AP courseload while he searched for his old self. Pretending to be sick bought him a few days while he looked for a way back to his old self, but after searching for Hailey all week with no luck, he had to accept her life as his own. Not that it was a bad life, by any means. Her parents were pretty strict, something that he had to get used to fast, but she was clearly popular judging by the stream of notifications on her phone. It wasn’t hard to guess why: Hailey was gorgeous. Just one look at her instagram account showed how much she loved putting on makeup and clothes to accentuate her natural beauty, and her wardrobe was clearly geared towards showing off her impressive assets.

Eventually returning to school as Hailey, Tom was overwhelmed at first, but slowly slipped into the routine Hailey had been living just days before. It was a struggle playing the part of a teen girl at first, but as weeks went on, it started to feel more and more natural to him. Plans for finding his old body were slowly put on the back burner, replaced by more pressing concerns like how to pass next week’s exam or which one of her outfits he could wear tomorrow without getting caught for violating the school dress code.

A month in, texting her friend Sarah about some guy in class, Tom realized with a shock that he hadn’t thought about himself as anything but Hailey in days. At some point, he had gone from pretending to be her to truly living her life, gossiping naturally about some teenage boy his old self wouldn’t have looked twice at.

Which brought him back to the text at hand. It was simple enough, a “wyd tonight?” from Mark, the guy on the wrestling team he shared a french class with. Clearly the old Hailey had liked him, as they had flirted a bit before, and Tom felt her body react to the post-workout shower pic he had sent her a couple of weeks ago. Tom made a split-second decision. If he was going to be Hailey, he’d live her life to the fullest. Besides, he was going off to college in a few months, and no way was he going to show up on the first day as a virgin. He hesitated for a moment, thinking about what to say back, but decided on a more direct approach. He snapped a quick selfie in front of the mirror, adjusting his dress to make sure his cleavage was well in the frame, and sent it over before he could have time to change his mind. Following it up, he smiled as he wrote a message to go along with it:

“all dressed up and nowhere to go ;) wanna meet up? i think i can sneak out the house tonight…”
